Frequently Asked Questions

What is Emma?

Emma is your financial advocate. She helps you in avoiding overdrafts, finding wasteful subscriptions and giving the control you need over your finances. She is available on iOS and Android.

Why Emma?

We think anyone should have an advocate that is here to help in our everyday life, no matter who we are and where we come from. We believe there is a better way of doing banking, which relies on a basic principle, caring about our customers’ financial well being. Read more about our mission

How much does it cost to use Emma?

It’s free and will always be.

Who can see my data?

Nobody. All employees of Emma, as well as third parties, do not have access to any personally identifiable information. The only exception is given in case you request support to us and explicitly grant us permission to access your data to deal with your enquiry.

Which banks does Emma work with?

Emma is currently available only in the UK and works with: NatWest, Halifax, Lloyds, Nationwide, Barclays, HSBC, First Direct, Santander, TSB, RBS, the Co-operative Bank, American Express, Barclaycard, Starling Bank and Monzo. We are currently working to extend this list.

What happens to my bank credentials?

In order to realise the synchronisation, we forward your encrypted PIN to our banking partner. The PIN is never stored on our own servers at any time. Our provider takes appropriate precautions to prevent unauthorised access to the encrypted stored PIN.

Can I delete my data?

Yes! Just contact us and we'll make sure all your data has been securely erased from our servers.

How do you make money?

We plan to provide you with the best financial products on the market, that are entirely custom to you, not your bank. We believe there must be a third party that makes the decision based on who you are and what you deserve. We are not a bank and we’ll never be.

Emma can save you up to £600 every year.
