Meet The Emma Finance Team – Evgeny

We’re back with more Emma Finance team interviews, and this week we’re speaking to Evgeny; a mobile developer and one of Emma’s newest recruits!

Hey Evgeny! Please can you tell us a bit about who you are, and what you do at Emma?

My name is Evgeny Ivanitsky and I’m a mobile developer at Emma.

I’m Russian and I currently live in Moscow. I’m originally from a city called Perm, which is best known for its salt factories and a guy that stole 250 million rubles and hid it in a forest!

Currently, I’m the newest employee at Emma – I only started working here in November.

Edoardo and I are supporting the app – developing new functionality, catching bugs, and optimizing the performance.

What’s the best thing about your job at Emma?

There are a lot of things that I find great. I’m fascinated by the app itself, I like the crew and I enjoy the flexibility.

I also like the fact that I’m working internationally – it’s something that I strived for. And, I get to test out my English knowledge, which I rarely got to do before.

What five words would you use to describe the Emma app?

Colorful, clever, appealing, ambitious, gummies.

What is it about Emma that you think has made it so successful?

Appealing pitch, skillful implementation and competent support.

I think that the app looks immediately attractive, and once a user actually starts using it, they’ll see the results quite quickly. And, while they are using it, the app is constantly changing and improving, so there’s constantly something new to check out.

Do you have a favourite feature within Emma?

Monthly budgets.

Buying games that I’ll never play on steam, unnecessary food delivery orders, or other things where I spend money more as a force of habit rather than genuine desire – the monthly budgets help me be careful about these.

What do you enjoy spending your money on?

Good food, travel, and tech.

If someone gave you ÂŁ1,000, would you save it, spend it, or invest it?

I’d want to answer “save it” or “invest it”, but now that I think about it, a thousand pounds is enough to buy an RTX 3080 🤔

And lastly, if you had to pick one emoji to describe your finances, what would you pick and why?

I’d pick this emoji – 🤯

Budgeting is hard, but at least there are tools to help you with it!

We hope you enjoyed finding out a little more about Evgeny, and what it’s like being a mobile developer at Emma!
