Our next personal finance interview is with Bola Sol. Bola runs a super successful blog, where she writes about fashion, feminism, and finance.
She has a degree in maths & finance and has used this knowledge and passion to create The Rich Girl Chronicles, The Last 3 Digits money podcast, as well as The Bola Sol Show which you can find on Youtube.
Hey Bola! Thanks for chatting with us. Can you give us a little introduction?
Iām Bola Sol. Iād say Iām a Financial Wellness Coach who teaches people to become more confident about their financial situation.
What inspired you to start opening up the conversation around money & personal finance?
Growing up with a scarcity mindset due to my surroundings.
No one wanted to talk about money until they were in trouble and that concerned me. We need to have the in-between conversations before situations get too bad.
Money is a part of our everyday lives so why not discuss it as well?
What do you think are the biggest challenges young women face when it comes to their finances?
Asking for more money. At times I donāt think we feel deserving of certain amounts of money and itās ridiculous.
So many women I know are bosses and that should be applauded with salary increases and rates that make sense. I donāt argue with anyone who doesnāt like what I charge.
Would you say your relationship with personal finance has changed over the years?
Yeah, I spend more on luxury goods because I can.
Iām over having money struggles. I know thatās a very privileged thing to say during this time but many people who look like me have survived. We should be thriving!
What exciting things do you have planned for the future?
An announcement is coming out in the next week or two so Iām excited to finally talk about what Iāve been working on.
Also, The Bola Sol Show is coming back by the end of the year and Rich Girl Chronicles is expanding.
I used to think I was a hopeless founder, but now I’m living my dream!
If you were to pick one emoji that describes your current financial situation, what would you pick and why?
š§ – I always have one eye on where my money is and why itās there. I donāt like my money floating without a purpose.
