What happens when the changes come into effect?
What is a bank login?
What is an on-demand sync?
Why are we doing this now?
Dear customers,
I am Edoardo, Co-founder and CEO of Emma.
I am writing to let you know we are making some changes to our Free and Plus subscription plans.
These changes come with the introduction of new limits to the number of banks you can connect to and the on-demand syncs you can make in the app.
These are our new limits which will come into effect on the 26th of April 2023:

If you are on a Pro or Ultimate plan, or you are within your allowances on Free and Plus plans, you won't need to do anything.
If you are currently above the new limits you will be asked which banks you want to keep syncing. Upon selecting them, all other connections will go into an "inactive" state and you will be able to activate them again by going into the "Settings -> Bank Logins" view.
When you add a bank account or institution in Emma a connection is created called a bank login.
Each bank login could contain multiple accounts from the bank, for example, your current account, savings account, and credit card account, but this is still considered as one bank login.
To see all your bank logins in Emma, please follow these steps:
From here you can view the accounts included in the bank login, check the status of the connection, renew access, and close or delete a bank login.
Emma will regularly sync your bank accounts throughout the day, but you can sync your accounts on-demand if you want to update the information shown in Emma sooner.
To perform an on-demand sync of your accounts, there are two ways to do this:
Up to this point, our customers have been able to add as many banks as they’d like and update their accounts, on-demand, straight from the app.
Despite these being very costly operations that have a massive impact on our running costs, we have tried to keep them for free for as long as possible by absorbing the rising fees ourselves.
Unfortunately, this is no longer maintainable and we have to make these changes in order to better support our operations and guarantee the service for everyone.
We are still committed to building and developing both Free and Plus plans with a plethora of new features and improvements, but we also need them to be aligned with the rest of the app.
Best,
Edoardo & Team Emma
