The end of the tax year is looming, and with it comes a crucial reminder: your ISA allowance resets every tax year. If you don’t use it before the deadline, you lose it.

With 5 April approaching, now is a good time to check where you stand and make sure you’re making the most of your tax‑free investing allowance. Remember tax treatment depends on your individual circumstances.

Set up your Stocks and Shares ISA

If you don’t already have one, opening a Stocks & Shares ISA is quick and simple on the Emma app.

To get started:

  1. Open the Emma app
  2. Go to Invest
  3. Select Stocks & Shares ISA

You can add money via bank transfer or directly from your Emma wallet, up to the £20,000 annual ISA limit across all your ISAs.

Use your tax-free ISA allowance

Once your ISA is open, you’ll be able to explore a range of ETFs available in the app and choose how to invest your money. Remember when investing, your capital is at risk.

Any gains you make inside a Stocks & Shares ISA are free from UK capital gains tax and dividend tax, making it one of the most tax‑efficient ways to invest.

As always, investments can go up and down, and past performance doesn’t predict future returns. Take your time, do your research, and only invest in options that feel right for you.

What are the fees?

Our fees are simple and transparent. Your Emma plan determines your annual AUM (assets under management) fee — everything else is free.

Don’t wait until the last minute

You can do all of this directly in the Emma app whenever you’re ready. That said, things often get busier as the tax year end approaches, so it may be worth checking your ISA allowance sooner rather than later.
